The molecular entities of primary interest are listed and described in 1a: serum albumin and the digestion proteases formed in the pancreas. The activity of these proteins are intimately connected to three clinical states as noted in 1b. In hypoalbuminemia serum albumin concentration drops while it increases in the urine. Hypoalbuminemia is a severity indicator of multiple disease states including acute pancreatitis manifest by in-pancreatic activation of digestive proteases. A third of acute pancreatitis victims also manifest hypoalbuminemia. Acute pancreatitis can be induced by many over-the-counter and prescription drugs.
