The work presented here demonstrates that therapies may initiate and/or amplify hypoalbuminemia, a leading indicator for severity for multiple disease states. In parallel, hundreds of therapies are known to induce acute pancreatitis, with putative protease inhibitors and antivirals over-represented. The need for early-stage screening for “off target,” detrimental, drug effects is apparent, though currently limited.
